If your tooth has been knocked out it is important to see a dentist within 30 minutes if applicable as this time is crucial. This can mean the difference between saving and losing your tooth! It is important to pick your tooth up by the crown (never the root) and gently rinse it with milk. The best solution would be to keep the lot tooth in the missing spot however if this is too painful or not possible we recommend placing it in milk. Milk is good for storing lost teeth because cells from the root surface don’t swell up and burst as they do when placed in water. It contains proteins which keep a constant acid to alkaline ratio, anti-bacterial substances as well as sugars to keep cells growing.
