Jack Manikowski, DDS
Care beyond the chair…
Dr. Jack is keenly aware of the profound impact he has on his patients, both in the short-term and long-term. Whether it’s through a smile enhancing procedure, treating oral disease or simply consulting with patients on ways to better care for themselves and their oral health, he is as inspired as he is grateful for the positive role he is able to play in the life of every patient. This gifted, caring, and dedicated specialist in cosmetic dentistry is a 1996 graduate of the University of Illinois School of Dentistry. He has a deep understanding of the subjectivity and even the emotion required to create warmth and visual harmony to a patient’s face. This is complemented by his extensive experience, hand skills and techniques.
What is Dr. Jack’s passion?
“When recreating the human forms of teeth, I constantly strive to mimic nature by marrying art with science.”
As is true in all medical professions, staying up to date with changes and innovations in the industry is essential. This is why Dr. Jack dedicates over 100 hours every year to continuing education courses and conferences. He is also an active member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, and the Chicago Dental Society.
Lauren Mell, DDS
Dr. Mell was born in Chicago where a majority of her family still resides. She received her bachelor’s degree in biology from The Ohio State University and then continued her education by attending OSU’s College of Dentistry where she earned multiple scholarships and participated in research.
After graduating from dental school cum laude with a DDS degree, Dr. Mell moved back to Chicago and furthered her education through the prestigious dental residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The residency afforded her the opportunity to expand her skills in all facets of dentistry including dentistry in medically compromised patients. During her one year residency, she traveled to Guatemala on a medical mission trip as the team dentist and hopes to continue mission work in the future.
Currently, Dr. Mell is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Illinois State Dental Society, and the Chicago Dental Society. She places emphasis on continuing education and regularly attends courses and study clubs.
Dr. Mell enjoys spending time outdoors. When she isn’t working she enjoys running or biking on Lakeshore Drive, camping with her husband, and spending time with family.
Teofilo Limosnero, DDS
Dr. Teofilo Limosnero or “Dr. Teo” as he is known by his patients is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology. He then attended the University Of Illinois College Of Dentistry where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Science and his Doctoral Degree in Dental Surgery. Dr. Teo is also a graduate of the Chicago School of Massage Therapy. Dr. Teo has been in private practice since 1992, focusing primarily on comprehensive general dentistry with an emphasis on cosmetics. His practice philosophy is based on quality care and compassion that respects the patient’s right to choose treatment options based on his/her own personal health care philosophy. He is committed to building a trusting relationship with his patients knowing that a healthy, functional, and beautiful smile can alter lives!
Dr. Teo believes that education is critical to providing quality care. He feels that there is always more to learn. He has been a clinical instructor at the University Of Illinois College Of Dentistry since 2011 where he instructs dental students in all aspects of restorative dentistry. Dr. Teo is the co-clinical director of and a clinical instructor for the Chicago Study Group of the Pacific Aesthetic Continuum (PAC), a continuing education organization dedicated to teaching Smile Design principles to its member dentists.
Dentistry is a constantly evolving field with new materials, techniques and equipment.To keep up with modern dental technology, Dr. Teo continues to learn and perfect his clinical skills by participating in yearly continuing education courses from prominent and well-respected dental institutions. He is currently a Dawson Scholar of the Dawson Academy. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, and the Chicago Dental Society. Out of the office, Dr. Teo is very active with his family, friends and the community. For 10 years he was a performing member of the Chicago Spirit Brigade or CSB, a nonprofit, adult, volunteer organization comprised of cheer, dance and drill teams. CSB is committed to raising funds for people living with life threatening challenges such as AIDS, HIV, cancer or homelessness. He has served as a Board member, Treasurer, performing member, and General Manager for the Group. But best of all, he especially loves spending time with dear friends and family, and traveling to the Pacific Northwest to spend time with his grandchildren.
Robin Gay, DMD
Dr. Robin Gay received her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Southern Illinois School of Dental Medicine in 1985. She also received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana in 1981.
Dr. Gay is committed to a patient-centered experience. Advances in cosmetic dentistry led her to the pursuit of extensive continuing education in order to provide her patients the most innovative treatment. Graduation from the Hornbrook Center for Advanced Clinical Education and the Dawson Center for the Advancement of Dentistry, two of the most highly regarded centers of continued dental education, has allowed Dr. Gay to provide outstanding, innovative dental care to her patients. Recently becoming the Co-Director of the Chicago branch of the Pacific Esthetic Continuum, a study group focused on comprehensive smile design and full mouth reconstruction has allowed Dr. Gay to share her knowledge with not only her patients, but participating doctors and their patients as well. In private group practice for over twenty years, Dr. Gay continues to have a love for her ever-changing profession, and is grateful for the opportunity to continue to provide the latest that dentistry has to offer to her patients.
Karen Kasinski, DDS
Dr. Karen Kasinski grew up in Racine, WI and graduated from Saint Catherine’s High school. She attended Marquette University and was awarded a position in the pre-dental scholar’s program, majoring in Biological Sciences. After just 3 years, Dr. Kasinski completed her undergraduate studies and began her dental training at Marquette University School of Dentistry, where she graduated in May of 2014.
In her free time, Dr. Kasinski enjoys cooking, playing outdoor sports, going to concerts, fishing, and biking. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, Lake County Dental Society, Chicago Dental Society, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Robert Baima, DDS, FAAP, FACP
Dr. Baima is a native of Northern Wisconsin and a 1975 graduate of Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.). After two years in private general dental practice Dr. Baima was accepted into the Specialty Residency of Periodontology Program at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, VA and graduated with a Certificate of Clinical Proficiency in Periodontics. He subsequently has also completed advanced training with Certificates in Fixed Prosthodontics and Maxillofacial Prosthetics, and has advanced training in Dental Implants at the UCLA Medical Center and Veterans Administration Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA.
In addition to a continuous career in private practice, Dr. Baima has spent over 35 years actively contributing and participating within the academic world of dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. He has presented over 250 formal academic lectures and presentations at various local, state, national and international dental conventions and seminars. He has had peer reviewed academic articles published in the Journal of Prosthodontic Dentistry, Journal of Prosthodontics, Journal of the Michigan Dental Association and Implant Dentistry. He has also written several chapters in Fixed Prosthodontic textbooks currently being used in academics dentistry. Dr. Baima has held academic appointments at The Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry, Marquette University School of Dentistry, UCLA School of Dentistry, The University of Southern California School of Dentistry, The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey/New Jersey Dental School, Loyola University School of Dentistry, The West Los Angeles Veteran Administration Medical Center and The University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, where he continues to hold a Clinical Professorship. He is also currently the Director of Dental Implant Services for the General Dentistry Residency Program at the Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital in Chicago.
Besides pursuing excellence in academic activities and private practice endeavors, Dr. Baima has also found time to marry and raise a family. Catherine, his wife of 20 years, has also pursued her own academic interest, obtaining a PhD in Education, and is the Director of the German language Graduate Program at the University of Chicago. They have two very active children, a boy and a girl, and they enjoy traveling, fine wine and gastronomy during their down time.
Sharmi Shah DMD, CAGS
Dr. Shah completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University in Chicago, IL, and her Doctorate of Dental Medicine at Boston University. She then completed a one year residency in Advanced Education of General Dentistry at Boston University.
After residency she chose to work in the greater Boston area in multiple private practices. She then finally returned to her hometown city of Chicago.
Dr. Shah feels very strongly that the patient- dentist relationship is extremely important, and she prides herself on being able to treat patients with open lines of communication, compassion and the utmost professionalism.
